In a few hours I leave for St. John's, Newfoundland via London - almost 20 hours in the air. There are plans for those arriving early enough on Sunday for a trip to watch the whales, now being a good season. Sadly I will arrive too late, but will be blissfully content with some cool sea air. By all accounts Newfoundlanders are most hospitable people.
Picking up a book in Kinokuniya this morning, I read "Have you said your prayers?" the child was asked. "No" she replied, "I'm going to sleep".
